From Mauritius to
Your Glass

Each bottle carries a piece of the island's soul – the sun, the wind, and the patience with which rum is born.

From Mauritius to Slovakia

The idea of bringing authentic Mauritian rum arose from a desire to share something exceptional. Something with soul, character, and sincerity.

MORIS trade today represents artisanal producers from Mauritius, bringing their craft to people who understand that rum is more than just alcohol – it is a ritual, a culture, and a memory of moments of tranquility.

1715

The tradition of rum production in Mauritius spanned the entire historical spectrum during the periods of French colonization (1715 – 1810) and British colonization (1810 – 1968). The original drink of sailors and pirates eventually transformed into a spirit sought after by nobility and connoisseurs of fine beverages.

Despite Mauritius gaining independence in 1968, rum production did not cease, and to this day, several renowned producers of world-recognized rum have been preserved.

The Dutch were the first to settle the island, starting in 1598. From Indonesia, they brought sugarcane to Mauritius, among other crops and animals.

It thrived exceptionally well here, mainly due to the tropical climate, warmth, and frequent rainfall. In addition to the climate, the volcanic soil where sugarcane grows also provided all the necessary nutrients.

People are always good company
when they do what they truly enjoy.

Samuel Butler

Every rum has its story. This is ours.

In the video, we reveal how the entire idea of moving to Mauritius came about, leading to the creation of MORIS trade rums – from sugarcane to the moment you pause and taste.

How the desire for uniqueness gave birth to MORIS trade rums

It all began with a single journey.
In Mauritius, I first tasted a rum that didn't just have flavor – it had soul.

It was different. Its aroma carried the scent of the earth, the sun, the cane, and the work of people who crafted it with passion and humility. It was then that I realized this was not just alcohol. It was something that deserved space, silence, and time. From that idea, MORIS trade was born. I wanted to bring people a rum with a story – honest, true, and authentic.

A rum that doesn’t rush, because it knows that maturity only comes with time.
Every bottle you hold is proof of this journey. It’s not just a product. It’s the result of tradition, craftsmanship, and respect for its origin. And if you pause for a moment with it – that was precisely our goal.
